Gynaecomastie

Operatiedokter Cenk Melikoğlu werd geboren in Görele, in 1978. In 2002 studeerde hij af aan de Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine. Tussen 2003 en 2010 deed hij zijn specialisatie in Izmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Clinic. In 2015 werkte hij als gastdocent in het American Hospital in Parijs. In het buitenland legde hij zich vooral toe op de overdracht van vrije vasculaire lymfeklieren voor de behandeling van lymfoedeem, op het gebied van microchirurgie. Hij studeerde in 2008 af aan de Faculteit der Geneeskunde van de Eskişehir Osmangazi Universiteit. Hij studeerde van 2007 tot 2008 aan de medische faculteit van Kaunas. Tussen 2009 en 2014 voltooide hij zijn specialisatie in de afdeling Plastische, Reconstructieve en Esthetische Chirurgie aan de Afyon Kocatepe Universiteit. 5 originele artikelen gepubliceerd in nationale en internationale wetenschappelijke tijdschriften, en 13 mondelinge en schriftelijke academische artikels gepresenteerd op nationale congressen. Hij zet de academische studies voort. Hij ontving het bekwaamheidscertificaat van Turkse Plastische Reconstructieve en Esthetische Chirurgie na zijn succes in het examen in 2016. Hij deed het goed in het European Plastic Surgery Competence Written Exam dat in 2019 in Brussel plaatsvond. Hij studeerde in 2011 af aan de Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs Universitaire Faculteit der Geneeskunde. Tussen 2013-2019 ontving hij zijn speciale opleiding in de afdeling Plastische Reconstructieve en Esthetische Chirurgie van het Ankara Dışkapı Training and Research Hospital. Hij heeft met succes het kwalificatiecertificaat Turkse Plastische Reconstructieve en Esthetische Chirurgie behaald in het 2018-examen. Hij is lid van de Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Association en de Turkish Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Association en de Turkish Medical Association. Hij spreekt vloeiend Engels. Men’s easthetic operations require experienced surgeons. The number of cases of women’s esthetics are more then men’s so the surgeon should be experienced performing men’s esthetics such as gynecomastia or more. The key issue is whether it bothers a patient enough to be worth undergoing surgery. Usually men will talk about being embarrassed to take their shirt off at the beach, their shirt clinging too tightly to their chest and looking odd when working out, and puffiness developing in the nipples, particularly when their nipples are warm.

The procedure is one of most easy going and less risky operations amoung all other aesthetic surgeries. The duration is around 1- 1,5 hours and nipple/ areola correction can sometimes be combined according to patients’ needs. The results of the operation is very satisfying and can be noticeable right after one day! Procedure is mostly performed under general anesthesia with laser/vaser liposuction device or sometimes with excisions. Patients can be discharged at the same day or sometimes hospitalized 1 night.

Swellings and bruises are expected after the operation. That is why a compression garment will be given to you and you will be asked to wear it approximately for 4-6 weeks. This will help the results to get more satisfying and help you to have less swellings. You will notice the results right after the surgery when wearing a shirt or t-shirt. The pain limits of each patient is ofcourse different however, we can’t tell that this is a very painful operation.

Gynecomastia patients are warned about the possibility of it coming back. There is no risk of gynecomastia coming back unless the patient goes onto anabolic steroids. The type of the operation should be decided carefully with the patient after physical examination wether to have it done by liposuction or excision.

There are often two very small incisions that are used for the liposuction portion of the procedure. If an excision needs to be done, there will be a scar at the border of the areola. Our surgeons are highly experienced about stiches and closing the incisions so you will not have big noticable scars after the surgery.

So long as your work doesn't involve straining and heavy lifting, you can expect to be back to work about three days after gynecomastia surgery. Some people go back even sooner, and many work from home the next day. You can drive when you are off the pain medication and feel totally unrestricted in order to ensure your and others’ safety.
