The ingrown nail is the problem of the nail that grows beneath the skin. If left untreated, it may become chronic and cause unbearable pain. Although it can be seen on all toes, ingrown nails are more often seen on the big toenails and manifest themselves as a result of incorrect nail cuts, improper pedicure procedure, improper shoe selection, insufficient foot care, overweight, pregnancy, diabetes and heavy sports activities.
Treatment Methods
Ingrown nails are a discomfort that can be treated with nail wire, nail excision, and band applications or even using laser.
In the case of laser ingrown nail treatment, bed-plasty is made to the nail bed by a laser system. In people who have fully recovered within 1 week, in laser treatment of ingrown nail, a plasty is performed using a laser to the nail fold layer. Patients show full recovery after 1 week from the procedure and present a low likelihood of re-occurrence.
He graduated from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine in 1990. In 2002, he completed his specialization in İzmir 9 Eylül University, Department of Dermatology. He is a member of Turkey Society of Dermatology and Pediatric Dermatology Association, Dermatooncolgy Association, Turkey Dermatovenerology Association. He gave verbal presentations in international and national meetings and has publications in Turkish and foreign journals.
